Black Powder
Manager: Ron Provost, (810) 326-0285; or Pete Galante, (810) 384-6096
If you like the low throaty roar and the billowing clouds of black powder, then our muzzleloader shooters are the
gang to hang out with. With a pavilion on their main range, they are ready to barbecue while they are ramming
bullets down the barrel. The Muzzleloader Division has several big shoots during the year, winter included.
Come on out and shoot that smoke pole.
We have lots of Muzzleloading shooting going on all year long!
Starting in January, we have a Winter League that shoots twice a month into April. We just bundle up for the
weather and shoot in the snow and cold whatever the temperature. We have a wood burning stove out back that
sure makes it more fun than in the old days.
Our Summer League starts Tuesday May 18, 2010 from 3pm to 8pm, and we shoot every Tuesday until
August 31st. Any weeks you miss can be made up on another week. In the summer we shoot at a variety of
different paper targets, clangers, woods walks and Novelty Nights with breakables and clangers. It's a fun
league and a real challenge. If you don't have time or care to join our league, you still can shoot any week with
us. Pick up a schedule any Tuesday night. The league shoots 10 shots each week, so there's plenty of time for
extra plinking, sighting in and practice. The league fee is $20.00, which includes prizes for all. There is a range
fee of $3.00 for members and $10.00 for non-members per week.
We try to have a Traditional Woods Walk once a month with 15 shots at clangers, a hawk and knife throw and
fire starting. Once in the spring and fall, we have a Pistol Woods Walk. You can use a cap and ball revolver or
single shot muzzleloading pistol.
Last but not least, we have our Last Blast of the Year shoot. This shoot will have different divisions, modern
inline, traditional rifle and smoothbore. This is a woods walk and some novelty shots with breakables. This shoot
takes place each year on December 31st. We have lots of muzzleloading events all designed to be fun and
present a challenge to all, whether you're a beginner or an experienced shooter.
